I was one of those volunteers who was scorned upon my return; but the Executioner series of books afforded me entertainment and some relief from the anger and feelings of betrayal that I struggled with for several years. Yes, there is violence in these books, but not as much as almost any Hollywood action movie, these days. And Mr. Pendleton made sure that the good guy always wins.
